The short version
Remem is a local-first planner organised by place. One tap starts recording; the Note tab takes typing instead. What you say becomes a pin, filed under a category, with the place attached automatically when location is on. Each pin also carries its own notes and the recording itself. Signed-in Free allows up to two photos per pin and Premium allows up to ten, which is enough to act on days later without rebuilding the thought from scratch.
Signed-out Home and List show bundled, immutable examples; creating a real pin requires sign-in. Signed-in Free covers your first five pins and keeps local capture working offline. A connection is only needed for the parts that reach outside the app, including Sync, an online speech fallback, a remote address lookup and buying Premium.
Step 1
Capture it in one tap
Tap the microphone and start talking. Nothing is listening until you press it, and the same button stops the recording and saves it. You have up to 60 seconds. A countdown appears in the last ten, and running to the end saves what you said rather than losing it. Prefer to keep quiet? The Note tab does the same job by typing.
Transcription is handled by your phone’s own speech service. With an offline language pack installed it works with no connection at all; without one, the phone may finish the job online. The recording stays in Remem’s private storage on the device. It is never uploaded in order to transcribe it. The text is yours to correct afterwards.
Step 2
The place attaches itself
There is no extra place-adding step, because there is nothing to add. When location is on and available, Remem saves it automatically with the new pin and can show your position on the map. If it is off or unavailable, the note still saves without a location, and says so rather than guessing one. Location is used only while Remem is open.
Turning coordinates into a place name starts with your phone’s own service. If that comes back empty, a signed-in Premium account can fall back to a remote lookup, which sends coordinates rounded to four decimal places to OpenCage through Remem’s service. That remains precise location data, which is exactly why it is worth stating plainly. Recordings, photos and note text are never sent for an address lookup, and without that fallback you still get a Plus Code or rounded coordinates rather than nothing.
You can also name a place yourself. An address label (“Sam’s yard”, “back gate”, “the one with the blue door”) beats a street address you would never think to search for.
Step 3
It files itself while you keep moving
Remem reads the words you used and drops the pin into a category: Food & drink, Shopping, To collect, Report, Place of interest, or leaves it General when nothing clearly fits. This is a plain keyword rule, not AI guesswork, and one tap changes it. The result is that a fortnight of captures arrives already sorted, instead of as a wall of undated audio you have to work through.
Add what will make it useful later: a separate Notes field, and photos taken or chosen on the spot. Signed-in Free allows up to two photos per pin and Premium allows up to ten. Photos are copied into Remem’s private local storage on the device. Each one can carry its own note, and those photo notes stay private when you share. Choose one photo to represent the pin and it becomes the face of that pin on Home and in the List.
Step 4
It lands on this device, immediately
After sign-in, every real pin is owned from creation by that exact Remem account and is written locally first, without waiting on a network. That is why capture works in a basement, a field or on a plane. Deleting is forgiving: you have five seconds to undo.
Step 5
Find it by place, or by the words you used
Map answers “what is around here”: your pins in context, a one-tap view that fits every pin on screen, and your own position when location is on. List answers “where was that”: search runs across transcripts and photo notes, category chips show how many pins sit behind each one, and the sort flips between Recent and Nearest whenever there is a fresh GPS fix.
Open a pin to play the recording back, fix the transcript, change the category, add notes or photos, or set off. Navigation hands over to whichever maps app you choose, and falls back to Google Maps in the browser when nothing suitable is installed.
Step 6
Plan ahead: drop a pin before you go
Save a viewing, collection point or meeting place before you travel. This workflow is in local validation and will be enabled publicly after map-provider approval. When enabled, sign in to Remem Web and open Map. Choose Drop a pin, click the place you want to save, add a label and choose Save.
Open the saved pin to edit its details or add photos. Use the same signed-in Remem account on your Android phone or iPhone: your changes sync when Remem is open and connected. Once Sync completes, the places you planned on the bigger screen are ready on your phone.
What Free covers, and what Premium adds
Signed-in Free keeps five pins, archived included, with up to two photos per pin. The account’s pins stay fully usable (view, edit, share, delete): a whole pin, not a preview. When you reach five, the capture you have just made is held rather than binned: free a slot or upgrade, and it saves.
Premium removes the commercial pin limit, allows up to ten photos per pin, adds spreadsheet and map-file export, and drops the “Saved with Remem” label from shares. It uses the same Sync as Free. If Premium ends, existing pins and photos remain manageable and synchronised; only another admission follows the Free boundaries. One purchase covers Remem Web, Android and iOS under the same sign-in.
What signing in changes
Signed-out Home and List show bundled examples and cannot create a real pin. Signing in creates or reconnects an exact Remem account; every real pin belongs to that account from creation. It also links eligible Premium access to that identity, but signing in alone does not charge you or grant Premium. Account collections never merge.
Signed-in Free and Premium use the same local-first encrypted Sync. Eligible account-owned changes are encrypted before upload and synchronised while Remem is open, in the foreground and connected. Use the same Remem account on the phone app and on Remem Web and both read that account's collection, so a pin captured on the phone is waiting for you in the browser. Sync is not a guaranteed backup, version-history or recovery service.
Premium plans, prices and purchase controls appear only after sign-in. Choosing a plan does not start a charge. A separate, deliberate Buy action opens the secure hosted checkout on Remem Web.
On Android and iOS, the same sign-in-first and second-action rule applies, but the final deliberate purchase action uses the relevant phone store rather than the web checkout.
One eligible Premium purchase works in Remem Web and the phone apps after it is linked to a Remem account. Use the same Remem sign-in on web, Android and iOS; you do not buy Premium again in the phone app.
Choose email and sign-in is a passwordless link — nothing to invent, nothing to forget. Apple, Google and Facebook sign-in appear when those production methods are configured and available in the release.
In your language, in your formats
Remem runs in English, German, Spanish, French and Japanese. Dates, times and numbers follow the region you choose, independently of the language, so you can read the app in English and still see 19/08/2026 and a 24-hour clock.
