Save a voice note with the place you were standing

Use Remem from tryremem.com. Tap the microphone, say what you want to remember and tap it again. Remem saves the recording, your words as text and, with location on, the place on a map, so you can find the note later by where you were.

Step by step

1. Open Remem on your iPhone or Android phone and sign in. Signed out, Remem shows example pins; saving your own needs a free account.

2. Allow location while you use Remem. It uses your location only while Remem is open, or during a journey you start.

3. Tap the microphone and say what you want to remember. Nothing is listening until you tap. You have up to 60 seconds, a countdown appears in the last ten, and reaching the end saves what you said.

4. Tap the microphone again to stop. Remem shows “Saved with location”, and the note becomes a pin where you were standing, with the recording, your words as text and a category chosen from your words, such as Food & drink when you mention coffee.

Tap, speak, tap, it's saved. That is how Remem keeps the recording, your words and the place together in one pin.

When you can't talk

Choose Type a note, enter your words and select Save. Remem saves the place with a typed note too.

To save somewhere you are not standing, open Map, choose Drop a pin, put the pin where you want it and give it a heading.

Faster on Android: quick capture

Long-press the Remem icon and choose Quick capture, or say “Hey Google, open Remem quick capture”. Speak, then stop: quick capture saves the note by itself after about three seconds of silence.

Find it again by place

Open Map to see your notes as pins where you made them. Tap a pin to read your words and see its address, then choose Play voice note to hear the recording.

In List, sort by Nearest current location to bring the pins closest to you to the top, or use the category chips to show one kind of note.

Free and Premium

The free account saves up to five pins, archived pins included, with two photos per pin and encrypted Sync between your devices. Premium removes the commercial pin limit and allows ten photos per pin. The app stores set the prices.

What happens to your recording

Remem saves each note on your phone first and encrypts it before Sync. Your phone's speech service turns your words into text: depending on the device and language, that happens on the phone or through an online service, and Remem does not upload the saved recording for transcription.
